Most killers kill animals when they are younger and only later on as adults do they start killing humans. This isn’t always the case though, today I’ll show you the youngest people ever to commit murder.

Mitchell Johnson, 13, and Andrew Golden, 11

Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Golden shot and killed 4 students and 1 teacher as well as injured 10 people in a school shooting. The boys bought with them a variety of different weapons, A Remington 742, A Universal .30 M1 Carbine, Ruger .44, Magnum, Smith & Wesson .38 Special Revolver, Double Deuce Buddie .22 Caliber two-shot Derringer, FIE .380 Pistol, Ruger Security Six .357 revolver, Davis Industries .38 two-shot derringer and a Charter Arms .38 Special revolver as well as 2,000 rounds of ammunition.

At the time the massacre was the 2nd worst shooting in U.S history. Golden and Johnson were caught trying to escape to a van and arrested, the van had food, sleeping bags, and survival gear. They were convicted of five murders, ten assaults and put in prison until they both turned 21 years old.

Jose Reyes, 12

Jose Reyes went to his school, pulled out a pistol, and shot a fellow student in the shoulder, a math teacher intervened and was shot and killed. Another student was then shot coming to the teacher's aid in the stomach and Reyes then shot himself in the head and died. The shooting happened before school started and the school was evacuated and closed for a week. Reyes left two suicide notes claiming he was bullied and had taken the antidepressant Prozac and an antipsychotic drug.

Joseph Hall, 10

Hall told the police that on the day of the shooting, his father threatened to remove all smoke detectors in the house and burn it down while the family slept. Hall said he was tired of his father hitting him and his mother, his father would kick him in the back his mother said. The house was filthy with the floor littered with clothes and the smell of urine as well as weapons accessible to the children.

Hall’s grandmother said she was not surprised he killed his father but expected it would happen when he was older. Hall’s motivation for the killing was from watching an episode of Criminal minds where he saw a kid shoot his abusive father and face no consequences for it. He also believed his father wouldn’t die from being shot and that they could reconcile. Hall was sentenced to juvenile detention until he reaches the age of 23. He is eligible for parole at age 20.

Mary Bell, 10

The day before her 11th birthday, Bell strangled four-year-old Martin Brown upstairs in a derelict house. Other than specks of blood and foam around his mouth, no signs of violence were visible on his body and the post-mortem was unable to determine the cause of death.

A day later on Bell’s 11th birthday, she and a friend Norma broke into and vandalized a nursery, they peeled tiles of the roof, tore up books, upturned desks, and smeared ink and paint around the place. The next day, staff found four notes saying:

“I murder SO That I may come back”

“WE did murder martain brown fuckof you bastard”

“Fuch off we murder. Watch out Fanny and Faggot.”

“You are mice Y Becurse we murdered Martain Go Brown you Bete Look out THERE are Murders about By Fanny and auld Faggot you Screws.”

The police dismissed this incident as a tasteless and childish prank.

Three-year-old Brain Howe was seen playing with Bell, Norma, the family dog, and one of his siblings. Later on, he was still not home and relatives and neighbors searched and found his body between two large concrete blocks. The first policeman to arrive found the body had been covered with clumps of grass and weeds. Several bruises and scratches were upon his neck and a pair of broken scissors lay close to his feet. It was concluded that Brain died from strangulation and was dead for up to seven and a half hours before being found. His body has puncture wounds to his legs, parts of his hair cut off from his hair, genitals partially mutilated and a crude M had been craved into his stomach. The force used suggested it was a child who committed this murder.

Many kids were questioned includingBell and she said she saw an eight-year-old boy playing with Brian that day. She also said the boy was covered with grass and weeds as if he had been rolling around in a field and that he had a pair of scissors. Bell then said: “I saw him trying to cut a cat’s tail off with the scissors, but there was something wrong with them — one leg was broken or bent.” Upon hearing this, the Detective Chief Inspector was convinced Bell was the killer. The boy Bell said was with Brian was found to be at an airport on the day with many witnesses confirming this.

Norma contacted the police and wanted to confess to what she knew of Brian Howe’s death. A drawing she made of the wounds done to Brain Howe matched those of the coroner. Fibers taken from clothes matched Bell and Norma and Bellalso had fibers found on Martin Brown. After a psychological evaluation, Bell was considered bright yet a cunning character, prone to sudden mood swings and sometimes she would talk but other times she become sullen and defensive in nature. It was concluded that Bell suffered from a psychopathic personality disorder and Bell’s social techniques are primitive and take the form of automatic denial, ingratiation, manipulation, complaining, bullying, flight, or violence.

Bell wasn’t convicted of murder but manslaughter for both boys on the grounds of diminished responsibility, Norma was acquitted of all charges and clapped. Bell burst into tears as did her mother and grandmother. The judge said Bell was a dangerous, “very grave risk to other children” and steps must be taken to protect the public from her. She was sentenced to be detained for an indefinite sentence of imprisonment.

Bell went to two detention houses before being moved to a young offenders institution where she was the only girl out of 24 inmates. She was later sent to a closed-category prison for female adults and young offenders and later on to an open prison where she took a secretarial course but 15 months later she and another inmate escaped and stayed with two men for serval days before being caught. She was arrested at one of the men's houses her hair dyed blonde as a disguise.

Bell was transferred to yet another open prison as the following year she would be released and she worked as a secretary, then as a waitress at a cafe. Bell was released from prison at the age of 23, having served almost eleven-and-a-half years in custody. She was granted anonymity, including a new name and the chance to start a new life elsewhere in the country under a new identity. Four years later she had a daughter who was her only child but one day, reporters found Bell’s location where they had both been living for about 18 months, and she and her daughter were moved to a safe house by undercover officers.

Author Gitta Sereny worked with Bell and wrote a book about her life, detailing the abuse she suffered as a child. Bell doesn’t claim she was wrongly convicted and admits the abuse she suffered as a child is no excuse for strangling her victims. Bell’s whereabouts are unknown and protected by the high court.

Armarjeet Sada, 8

Not much is known about the young born other than he was born in 1998 in a small farming town of Begusarai in the state of Bihar India. Much about him is suppressed in court because of his age. At 8 years old, he beat his six-year-old cousin to death and his eight-month-old sister also. In 2007 at around 9 years old, he killed a six-month-old baby.

Sada’s uncle revealed that the family knew about the two murders but kept them quiet as “family matters” to protect Sada. A neighbor called the police and said Sada had a dark streak. The police at first didn’t believe a boy of his age could do such a thing until his parents allowed him to admit his crimes. He lead the police to the six month year baby he killed and admitted to the two other murders of his sister and cousin.

During his interrogation with police, he asked for a biscuit and didn’t seem nervous or remorseful, he was unemotional when talking about her murders.

“She was sleeping in the school. I took her a little away, and killed her with a stone and buried her,”

The Times of India reported that a psychologist assessed Sada and diagnosed him with a psychiatric disorder and said he was a sadist who derives pleasure from inflicting injuries. Sada was put in a remand home because, under Indian law, a child could not be sentenced to death or sent to prison but can be detained until they are 18. Sada was given treatment and access to medication but also apparently spend most of his time in solitary confinement.

Sada was released in 2016 upon his eighteenth birthday, but according to reports, his whereabouts are unknown. He would now be 22 years old.
