How I met my Stray Cats

Tiger

I have had cats all my life so far and other animals in between. In this story, I’ll talk about my favorite and last alive cat Tiger. Tiger was a stray I met one day, I actually looked after 3 strays, with him being the latest. He had a collar but was young and hung around the house, the first day he came to us, he jumped out of a window and hit the TV satellite knocking the TV signal out. I thought he was dead and worried to look down but he was totally fine it seemed. We decided to keep him and he decided to stay with us, whether he had an actual owner or not I can’t say but he chose to stay at our house from that day on.

He was a high-energy cat and often caught mice and lizards to bring home. He is a friendly cat and would always come to any new person or situation to investigate. He would play or attack the other 3 cats I had at the time and generally fight any cat he came across. He got a scratch on his top lip and a cut in his ear as a result of trying to be alpha male. He almost always sleeps on my bed and wakes up when I do almost all the time, he also will follow me around most of the time. I am definitely his favorite person out of everyone and he is the favorite cat I’ve had even though I’ve loved all the cats I’ve had.

I only owned one of the four cats I’ve had, Harry who was a grey and white cat who ended up in an accident very early on in his life while we had him. I woke up with a pool of blood on my bed and saw blood everywhere. He escaped and went outside, the next day we assumed he was dead. My mum called him and he came to her, he was in a bad way, his tail was badly damaged and so was one of his back legs. He ended up getting his tail and one of his back legs removed but lived a healthy full life and died at the age of 14.

Dennis was another stray, he was very skinny, ribs showing and patches of fur missing, we gave him food and he kept coming back. He once went inside and panicked when the door closed and scratched it to be let out. Eventually, he came inside and slept and become part of the family, he ended up scratching to be let in and become a very fat cat indeed. He died at age unknown from a tumor, later on, he looked so skinny near the end but we gave him the best life he could have had.

The last one was Squeaker, he was one of the smallest cats I've seen and so cute. He stayed in the garage, we fed him every day, he was friendly and loved to be stroked. Unfourtnasly one day he left and never returned, a person in our street later said Squeaker gave her cat some kittens, what a surprise that was.

Unfortunately, I only have pictures of Tiger as my old phone with the pictures of the other cats is broken. I do wonder how he came to be at my house, he had a collar so must have had an owner at some point and was a young cat too. Why he came here is beyond me but I’m glad. He is now estimated to be 9–10 years old and the last cat I have and yesterday had 8 teeth out, he is now sleeping recovering, and going to be back to his old self again, hopefully, he has many years left still.
